Preparing for a Full Moon
The full moon represents the physical and emotional body, this is the perfect time to look inward and recalibrate. During the three days before and after the full moon you can find yourself being moody, sensitive and fatigue. This is because the energy of the full moon is constant during that period. A good first thing to do is to tune into nature, take a long walk on the beach or a hike, and focus on your breathing. Care for your plants and or garden. Release negative thoughts and energies and focus on connecting with the moon.
On the night of the full moon make sure that your space is clean and organised, clear your home of any clutter and things that do not bring you joy anymore. Take a shower, or bath and do an aura cleanse to wash away negative energies. Play soothing music and light some candles. Cleanse yourself and your space with sage or palo santo. After using either of these make sure that you open a window or door to allow the stagnant energy to leave with the smoke. This puts you into the right mindset and prepares you to welcome new good things into your space.
Moonlight is used to recharge, so create a sacred space that is safe and stable that will also be hit by the moonlight throughout the full moon period. You can place flowers here, crystals, jewellery, seashells, twigs and leaves. The morning sun must not hit them after they have been charged. You can also place a jar or a glass of water to make your own moon water, this too must be moved before the morning sun rises. The glass or jar has to be cleansed first with sage or incense. This water can be used for tea, watering your plants, cleansing your crystal and in your bath water. Another thing you can do is take a moonlight walk, bathe in its power and breathe in the fresh air.
Meditating during a full moon is extremely healing. Other forms of meditation are painting and journaling. These are calming activities that allow you to take all your emotions and put them on paper. Write all the things you’ve been putting off, make a to do list, follow that list, and make room for new projects and adventures. Write down your intentions and reevaluate your goals. Also, be proud of yourself for what you have already completed, self gratitude is very important.
Lastly, do not forget to show gratitude. Observe the moon, talk to the moon, show it gratitude. Recognising what we presently have has tremendous effect on our self-care. Cleanse and nourish your body with good healthy foods and nourish your soul. Fill yourself with an immense amount of positive energy.
